Welcome to Kountry Cookin Soul Food Resturant
Ain't no cooking like "Kountry Cookin"

Hello, My name is Homer Fulton, Jr. I am the proprietor of Kountry Cookin' Soul Food Restaurant located in the heart of Whitehaven. Before I tell you about the birth of Kountry Cookin', let me tell you a little about myself. I consider myself as a visionary entrepreneur, if I can believe it I will achieve it. I am a man of faith. I was raised by my mother, a single parent. She raised 10 children by herself with the help of God, you can say that's where I got my fortitude from. Growing up as a teenager, I always found ways to make money; cutting grass, selling drink bottles and copper, worked in a grocery store, Fred's dollar store, chopped and picked cotton.

During the summer months when school was out, my mother would take me and my siblings out to the country to spend the summer with our grandmother, our dads mother. It was during those many summer months and holidays I was introduced to the best Soul Food on earth. I still can taste the fried chicken, cornbread, biscuits and blueberry pies. I'm not taking any credit away from my mother because she was a great cook as well. It was just something about grandma cooking, she grew most of her food. I believe that's why it was the best, something natural and pure from the earth. She had everything right at her hand. Now you see why Kountry Cookin' was opened. I wanted to taste again the food that I was raised on. I wish I had grandma in the kitchen, but she is no longer here. So, I make sure the cooks I have come close to her cooking.

When I wanted a place to go for breakfast in the Whitehaven area, there weren't any to my satisfaction. The same thing about a good Soul food restaurant , not many, if any. So, to bring Grandma's cooking to Whitehaven, I decided to open Kountry Cookin' Soul Food Restaurant in June of 2010. Kountry Cookin' has been around for 3 years with more years to come. I really think my Grandma is proud of me for passing on the cooking that she took pride in and loved doing. I thank God that my grandmother couldn't buy me shoes and clothes, but she made sure I ate a home cooked meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would have forgotten about the clothes, shoes etc., but her cooking will be with me forever. I thank God daily for Kountry Cookin' because it reminds me of the wonderful grandmother I had, Ms. Lillie Mae Killings. Now you know the love behind Kountry cookin' Soul Food Restaurant. See you at Kountry Cookin... "Where everyday is Sunday". Be Blessed!!
